PROJECTS Digital Geidai
The Tokyo University of the Arts campus in Ueno was digitally scanned, freely combining the physical campus and digital space into a domain in which artists can exhibit their works in a variety of media. In addition, experimental pilots in autonomous driving and real-world game implementations are underway.
The data acquired as a point cloud is then released to students and creators. Creative activities and autonomous research using three-dimensional data are now underway. Thus far, the digital campus has given root to freeform thinking rich in technology and ingenuity. It has been used for sketches and polygon rendering solutions, for depicting the change of time from day to night with shadows, and for enabling avatars to walk freely around the campus in VR, among other diverse forms of expression and entertainment.
